drewp came up with a great suggestion (thanks drewp!) for using a Javascript and CSS hack to suggest new reviews that Revyu users might like to write, based on their browsing history. I tried to comment on his blog, but apparently my comment was too spam-like, so the reply goes here:

“Hey Drew, this is a great idea. I love it from the functionality point of view. The mechanism it uses does make me a little bit uncomfortable; irrespective of whether browser history is sent to some remote location or not, there seems to be a little bit too much risk of leaking data about surfing habits: “Hi Joe Bloggs, perhaps you’d like to review www.dodgywebsiteaddresshere.com !”
I guess it comes down to not doing what the user doesn’t expect.
Anyway, as an alternative route to the javascript/css history hack, I’m gonna have a look at creating something that uses del.icio.us instead. It might not pick up as many links from which to start reviews (I wonder what the bookmarked/visited ratio is) but using data that was already in the public domain would set my mind at rest. “
